The number seven has always denoted completion and rest to me. The Bible says the world was created in six days. On the seventh day, God rested. I don’t think He “rested” because he was tired. He stopped so the angels could see all the wonders He had created. And they were wonderful wonders. (If you remember, at that point, man, and woman, hadn’t had a chance to mess anything up.) That means the number seven isn’t about finishing and resting. It is about taking a deep breath and then moving forward.
Today, I turned 70! I made it through seven decades. Today I start into my eighth decade. It does not mean I am done. I am not going to grab an overstuffed chair and binge-watch the hundreds of shows I have not watched all of these past decades. There has got to be more, and I’m going out to look for it. I have friends in their 70’s and 80’s who do stuff. Richard is remodeling his whole house, by himself. Diane is a bundle of energy who keeps 200 residents in party mode, offering entertainment and food gatherings and useful money raisers for groups like Meals On Wheels. I do not have their talent or their energy but I do have today, the first day of being seventy.
After God “rested” He started new projects and I believe He still works today. In fact, I know He still works today and He works in my life. I don’t have thousands of years left to work, but, each day, I am given another day to do something. At my age, there will be days I rest. But, I want those rest periods to be times of contemplation. What have I accomplished? What can I do next? How can I make the world just a little better?
Mankind has done such a good job of messing with the world. That is why God keeps working, to keep the world from being destroyed. I believe He loves it when each of us keeps on keeping on, one good deed, one more positive move, daily.
You woke up this morning. You have the whole day to do something. What a gift that is for each of us. If you do one thing today, and I do one thing today, that is two things accomplished. The world needs people like us. I believe that and I think you do too.

Robin 70 looks good on you and you are much younger than your years. As you stated just “doing something” keeps you young. Energy is displayed in many ways but I believe the accomplishments give us the energy to want to do more. Accomplishments come in many shapes and sizes, large and small enjoy each and every one of them. Happy Birthday!
Welcome to your new decade. I’m looking forward to mine too!
