June 1, 2025 One night in Birmingham. Then a drive through Atlanta, literally through it. Maps decided the freeway wasn’t good because of the construction so, it sent us into the heart of downtown Atlanta, except that there was city road construction too. It was an interesting experience and I lived to tell.
Then we zipped through Louisiana and Mississippi. Then we spent the night in Greenville, So Carolina.

My sister and brother-in-law were visiting so that’s why we chose Greenville. They left today to fly back home to Edinburgh, Scotland. I thought it was great that I came across country and they flew from the other side of the Atlantic for us to meet there. My sister has become a faithful follower of my blog and I am grateful for that.
Not much to report about my visits through each state. Just lots and lots of trees lining both sides of well-kept highways despite the blistering hot summers, freezing winters, and occasional hurricanes. California could take note here.
When I first set out solo I signed up at Circle K. 10 cents/gallon less for gas works for me. At $2.66/gallon I could drive forever. But now, I’m getting used to the truck stops Arleen insists we stop at because, “they have more stuff and cleaner bathrooms.” She’s right. I am still getting used to not handing over $50, pumping gas, and then going back for $30 change. WooHoo!
JoJo has done very well with these national travels. I, stupidly, gave him two tiny bites of my burger meat a couple of days ago. He thanked my by making me get the full load diapers out for 24 hours. He is all back to normal now. Note to self, “Don’t Do Stupid!”
Even though I did 3 blogs last week, some people remarked about how they missed my Sunday Blog. Here is where I am at right now. Picking up a travel-mate in Texas takes extra work for me. Our daily personal schedules are completely different. I am wide awake at 5 AM. She sleeps til 7 and lingers over coffee for an hour. I walk JoJo, get the free breakfast (usually eggs), take my stuff out to the car, and reorganize the car. Just enough disruption for me to find reasons not to write. I will work on that.
So, now we are on our way to Florida to visit a dear cousin. It’s a little dip before heading back to Wilmington but well worth it. We will be in Orlando and very near all of the attractions. But we will not be visiting any of them this time. Apparently, JoJo is too short to go on the rides.
Until next time, #ontheroadagain
