Fall
Pumpkin Spice Lattes are here! Is everybody happy? For many people, the Fall season means Happy Mode. Daylight is shorter and means cozy-cool night air. The harvest is in. We enjoy all kinds of fruits and vegetables. The holidays peek at us from the end of the hallway, promising family, friends, fun, and food. Did I mention the food? Yes, when you ask, “What is your favorite season?” the answer is, often, Fall.
I have always found some joy in each one of the four seasons, at least at the beginning of each season.
Winter
Winter brings New Year’s and the promise of new beginnings. It also brings fun in the snow. Many of us can slow down and even hibernate a little. As the season progresses we experience the cold, the wet, more cold, and for some, just too much snow.
Spring
It’s no wonder Spring delights us with a showcase of all that Winter kept promising. Colors are everywhere. Birds are everywhere. Life is everywhere. We are so dazzled that we don’t notice the, soon to follow, hay fever and high water bills.
Summer
Summer is like a water slide by which we gaily enter the swimming pool. Days are long. Evening walks in twilight are plentiful. Energy bills follow the water bills in an upward trend.
The Truth Is…
And then, there is Fall, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Truth be told, I am not a fan of the super-sweet drink. Sorry. There is good in each season. But, for me, each season is too long. Perhaps we could have eight seasons instead of four. The extra season between Fall and Winter you could name after me. After all, that is when the Robins relax, after raising their young, and then they get drunk, by eating the orange-red berries, and then they fly into your picture window.
Yep, Fall, Robin, Winter. Works for me.
One response to “Order Up!”
I guess the first word that comes to mind for me is cute. I could visualize your descriptions and enjoy each one. I’m with the Robin’s. Relax and enjoy the Robin season.
